Golf carts can park in standard street parking spaces for free.

Coronado Parking Rules & Street Sweeping FAQs

Important rules to avoid tickets or towing while enjoying the island

When does street sweeping occur in Coronado?

Residential street sweeping occurs every Tuesday and Wednesday morning between 8:00 AM and 11:00 AM depending on the specific block. Always check the white-and-red posted street sweeping signs on your side of the avenue before leaving your vehicle parked overnight.

Are there any parking meters anywhere on Coronado Island?

No! Coronado does not have any coin-operated or digital pay parking meters on public street curbs. Curbside parking is completely free across the entire island, subject only to posted green-curb 2-hour limits on commercial blocks and street sweeping hours.

Can RVs, motorhomes, or boat trailers park on Coronado residential streets?

Oversized vehicles exceeding 20 feet in length or 7 feet in width are prohibited from parking on public city streets between 2:00 AM and 6:00 AM without an approved City of Coronado temporary resident permit. Overnight vehicle camping is strictly prohibited everywhere on the island. For RV camping, book the Silver Strand State Beach campground.

What happens if I exceed the 2-hour limit on Orange Avenue?

Coronado Police Department parking enforcement officers regularly patrol Orange Avenue with automated tire-chalking and license plate readers. Moving your car to another spot on the same block does not reset the clock. If you plan to shop or dine for longer than 2 hours, park on C Avenue, D Avenue, or in the municipal lots.

Where can I charge an electric vehicle (EV) in Coronado?

Coronado offers multiple public EV charging options. Hotel del Coronado features 12 Tesla Superchargers and universal Level 2 ports in its underground garage off Avenida del Sol. The City of Coronado provides public Level 2 EV charging stations at City Hall and the Coronado Community Center (1845 Strand Way), near Spreckels Park (6th St and Orange Ave), and at 1st Street and B Avenue near the Ferry Landing.
